Gridiron Heroes Spinal Cord Injury Foundation provides immediate as well as long term resources and support to individuals sustaining a catastrophic spinal cord injury through activities associated with high school football.
When Chris Canales suffered a spinal cord injury on the football field that left him confined to a wheelchair, he and his father Eddie started Gridiron Heroes. Gridiron Heroes helps injured players and works to prevent spinal cord and brain injuries that occur on the football field. Chris and Eddie have been tireless in their efforts. By giving away wheelchair-accessible vans, organizing training clinics and lobbying for safer tackling techniques, Chris and Eddie have affected the game and the lives of the people who play it.
